Bob
Its not very often that i win at anything. In fact its even less often that i get the oppertunity to win let alone actually get to the end goal with a gold medal in tow followed by the cheers of the crowd as the national anthem plays triumphently in the background to raptous applause. Odds are if i ever did win at anything there would be a long line of people with faces like a bulldog chewing a wasp all pissed off over any minor victory i did have.
Earlier this year (about a month back to be roughly percise) i was fortunate enough to not only win but not know i had won or even entered a competition. You would be forgiven for thinking any sort of win along those lines (especially a win onine) would only come via the spam box of an email account. Usually its a win on the spanish national lottery or a milionaire uncle of unknown descent died recently and his solicitor needs an injection of cash to transfer his vast estate to your account oh and by the way could they also have your bank account details and mothers maiden name thank you very muchly.
Although i truely had no idea i had won prior to an inbox from the mod maker himself its fair to say with bob (i named my box mod bob....deal with it) sitting beside me for little over a month now that i was for one tiny portion of my life an actual honest to goodness real winner.
Bob is in essence a nice hand crafted wooden box mod that houses two 18350 batteries in paralel (i say paralel like i know all about that sort of shit) and is designed around an evod twist board. The box itself was created by a known mod maker on UKV who is sadly no longer around (not due to death i hasten to add) and was offered up as a thank you to all the messages of support when he fell off the bandwagon and returned to more conventional means of getting a nicotine fix. Unknown to me i had no idea the thread had been turned into a competition thread and would have been none the wiser had i not recieved an inbox out of the blue informing me as such but back to Bob.
I havent a clue what the wood the mod is made from so i am going to hazzard a guess that its one of the realy expensive and rare sought after varietys from an extinct tree species no longer in existance. i would assume someone dug it ot of a peat bog and dried it before selling it on the open market where it fetched two hundred and twenty five pounds and fifty six pence per kilo (more than likely its probably just walnut though who knows?)
The mod itself as stated was designed around an evod twist so is variable voltage to the maximum that said evod battery would be capable of going up too (bout 4.8 i think) the voltage is changable via a dial situated on the side of the box and although there are no specific markings pertaining to the voltage its set at its no hassle to twist vape and twist again should you need to adjust the voltage to your (my) particular prefference. The batteries two 18350s can be placed into the device via a sliding wooden panel (quite a nice touch) and locked safely into position with the aid of some rare (probably not that rare in reality since fasttech sell em) earth magnets (also nice touch) the battery compartment itself is quite a tight fit (giggidy) and needs due care and attention when removing the batteries less i drag the springs out with them due to my signature heavy handidness. On the front of the box itself is a (rather retro looking) voltage meter with a small recessed brown (to blend into its wood surround no doubt) button that when pressed displays the current voltage left on the batteries (nice touch) and around the front a small silver button with a white light hidden behind that glows when pressed. The 510 connection on top has been recessed for a flush atty sit and is dead centre of an X carved into the wood to aid with airflow on certain atomizers (nice touch) the mod itself doesnt seem capable of firing all attys. So far the only atomizer i have had successfull firing with is a nimbus dripper clone. It will neither fire my russian clone nor a protank which im putting down to either recessed centre pins on the atomizers or Bob simply is a dripper kinda guy and dont do tanks.
So how does Bob vape?
Actually supprisingly well. I was never expecting a hitter of DNA standards and would seem like a right ungreatfull fucker if even expected as such from what is after all one of the best freebees iv had the pleasure to be given. I have also been given (by the mod maker) express warning not to fire any atomizer below 1.3 ohm so as not to put strain on the circuit board. Bob however fires best between 1.6 to 2.0 ohms and at full voltage gives as good a vape as a vamo set to 9 or 10 watts. Where bob realy excells is to do with his size. he is tiny. For what is a duel 18350 box mod his potential for stealth vaping has saved me nic craving on public transport more than a few times. With bob i can be both discreet and get my nic fix.
If a couple of months back someone had asked me what my most prized mod was. i would have easily said either the clone nemesis or the itaste svd. It still is for me in many ways a power trip as far as my mods are concerned to have the highest watts and to acheive the biggest clouds my meager budget can stretch too. However. if bailifs were to come round this flat tomorrow and give a choice of what to leave behind as they grabbbed my mods to pay for my well overdue payment on my poll tax. I would give up everything other than Bob. He certainly isnt the hardest hitter. he doenst go higher than my vamo or fire down as low in ohms as the SVD he will never be the cloud machine the nemesis is.......In fact theres only 1 mod he outperforms (PH22 seriously tip for anyone reading this....dont buy the PH22) oh and i suppose he also outperforms my trusty old friend the ego. No why i would keep Bob (apart from his flwaless stealth capabilities) is purely because for the first time in my poor little life not only did i win something i could happily use. Its because that something is a hand crafted one of a kind ....not another like it exists its unique and its mine (from my cold dead hands speech to shortly follow)
I guess in a way that exclusivity (even free) has turned me into a vape snob lol
