BLACK BURST
It’s not often that I’m given the opportunity to review a juice and even less often I’m given a juice to review. More often however it has been known for me to not read the small print before saying yes please to the offer of juice to review only to realize that I do actually have to pay money (yeah I know I’m still having palpitations over that) for the price of postage. Not wanting to come across as more stupid than I already am and going back on the offer and realizing that I haven’t really bought a ready-made juice in ages and that I was also genuinely getting a rather good deal for it. I decided to swallow my tight fisted pride and send off the paltry postage for the purposes of doing a review on Mist A G’s Black Burst from vape and chat. And I’m rather pleased I did. Although I was offered this juice at discount it doesn’t necessarily mean my review will be blowing smoke up the arses of the vendor. As I was however given the opportunity to get a juice at a rather good discount any critique I give will (for the interests of fairness and decency) be purely constructive as such I advise anyone viewing this review to read between lines and add their own swear words at the appropriate critical moments to give a better interpretation of my writing style when I would otherwise be reviewing a juice that I actually purchased myself or got free without any attached strings. Everything else in this review will be a complete honest appraisal of black burst and the company.
First impression is a nice bold design. It tells you exactly what it is and seems to be a one size fits all label with a separate label that tells you the name of the juice including the pg/vg ratio and strength. Though it does what it’s designed to this label designer (and yup I am) can’t help noticing it’s definitely not clp compliant. However this label designer also doesn’t like clp and tries to avoid it whenever possible itself. The bottle also doesn’t come with a child proof cap. A small oversight and another clp requirement overlooked although when is this juice ever likely to be sold to anyone under the age of 18 in the first place.
Impressions of the juice itself a nice bold blackcurrant smell and surprisingly crystal clear. I have no idea how that’s possible unless the concentrates used to mix it were clear to begin with and the juice was steeped completely in the dark. Dosed up in my origin dripper (my best flavour atty) and single coiled to around 0.4 ohm (around coz I sorta guessed) and fired on the trusty nemesis and I have to say it is rather tasty. I know quite a bit about blackcurrant infusions. Not only as blackcurrant is a staple store cupboard concentrate of my own but I am also friends with a vendor who sells predominantly blackcurrant flavours himself (of which I will be recommending him this juice to compare lol)
Although this juice is 70 vg and 6mg and is perfectly suitable to throw out bug dense plumes of vapour I couldn’t help personally thinking it is more suitable as a mouth to lung on a sub setting with a relatively tight draw as that seems to do justice to its flavour......which brings me onto the flavour itself.......
I’m not sure what ratio of blackcurrant to aniseed this particular juice has and i might hazard a guess at 50/50 and be completely wrong. But I couldn’t help thinking the blackcurrant (bare in mind i have been brainwashed to be blackcurrant biased) was slightly overtaken by the aniseed itself. You seemed to get a fusion of the 2 on the inhale while on the exhale the aniseed seemed to coat the tongue and linger slightly longer with a very similar flavour to those aniseed balls one used to buy and smuggle into school. As I have said previously I did find the juice itself either tasty but can’t help thinking the blackcurrant could have been ramped up to compete on an equal level with the aniseed itself.
If i was to recommend this juice (and I have already said i would and meant it) and I had to describe it for best use. I would say it’s a cracking summer flavour for mouth to lung and one to savor rather than one to belt out antisocial plumes from. It’s certainly a refreshing vape and one that I could happily polish off without a juice change in between.
Value for money
This one is a bit of a sticking point for me as i paid postage only so of course i am going to say i got great value for money. I did however take a look at the price of the bottle on the site itself and weighing in at 12 quid of your hard earned for 30 ml and add to that I am a tight fisted miser of a vaper and its certainly not something I would pay full price to vape myself. Having said that though I know of some cracking blackcurrant juices that are sold at a higher price per ml than black burst is. And they are repeat purchased by those that have tried them. so I suppose from that aspect could say black burst does indeed provide that sort of value for those with either a disposable enough income to justify such a purchase or for someone who does want a cracking flavour burst every now and again as a treat. For me personally nope I’m just too much of a tight arse lol
Summary and additional prerequisites for review
The service i received from vape and chill was top notch considering the postage was 2nd class it came pretty sharpish (sharper than i have in fact thrown this review together. and i was given an almost instant response to my queries and inboxes whenever i posted them to their Facebook page. I also got a free complimentary sherbet (I don’t like sherbet but its free and I’m tight) as i have said value for money is a sticking point of mine but if you add the quality of the juice together with the service received and the fact that vape and chill will also somewhat tailor your juice to your specific requirements then it certainly goes a long way for giving you bang for your buck out of 5 I would give value for money at a 4 for the reasons I have stated above. (Although don’t take that as an indication that I’m getting all lah de dah as I wouldn’t personally shell out myself) The overall experience of vape and chill (including delivery time the juice itself and service i would hit up at another 4 out of 5 (mainly as it does what it does well and did provide a genuinely tasty juice). I have previously stated above that i would recommend this juice and by proxy vape and chill itself as i do know at least one specific blackcurrant mad chap who would be more than tempted to try a juice that is very similar in ingredients to a juice he previously used to make himself.
